ANZAC 25.4.13

Jill and Ethel have arrived at the Anzac service that is going to be held this morning.  They are given a programme and go and sit down one two of the many white plastic seats that have been set up for this service.

This year, after the service the children present were given a metal pin of a pukeko wearing an army lemon squeezer hat with the words; REMEMBER THEM HAMILTON NZ 1914- 1918.

Jill pins the metal pin of the pukeko onto the front of her dress.  Back at Kowhai Corner Jill shows Serene and Thelma her new pukeko Anzac pin.

Marmite is available again

Ethel and Jill can’t get the lid off quick enough to have marmite on their hot crumpets!

Marmite became available in the supermarkets on the 20th March 2013. I brought a jar of marmite on Tuesday because the shelf was always empty when I went to the supermarket. The Sanitarium factory was damaged in the Christchurch earthquake and marmite production was suspended for about 12 months. There was damage to a cooling tower at the company’s Christchurch factory which rendered the nearby marmite building unsafe.

The Easter Message

The Hitty girls have gone to Luke and Hannah’s to hear the Easter message.  Luke reads out the big poster he has put on the wall which is the Easter story with pictures.  Luke also has a word find and a maze activity for them to do.

We believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe God will take back with Jesus those who have died believing in him. 1 Thessalonians 4:14.  Luke is using the card put out by the New Zealand Bible Society. Hannah provided the girls with a healthy lunch.
